A Forward From LHCC Advisor William M. Altman
The current national climate has highlighted the importance of addressing the very real disparities that exist in our healthcare system, and LHCC’s focus on social determinants of health is very timely.
As LHCC’s unique combination of payers, providers across the continuum, employers and stewards of patients/members/caregivers respond to the COVID-19 crisis in our daily operations, it’s important to ask: how does this affect LHCC’s mission to advance healthcare innovation? We’ve seen government, industry, and innovators come together in unprecedented ways to address urgent problems quickly amid current uncertainty as small and big businesses alike have been forced to adapt, pivot, grow, or shrink as they react to or leverage shifting regulatory and market dynamics.
LHCC companies in many cases have been at the forefront of this drive towards collaboration and innovation. In this issue of the LHCC newsletter, we’re sharing some exciting developments that reinforce how LHCC can continue to be at the center of innovation for an aging population. As difficult as it is to innovate during a crisis, at LHCC we have developed the infrastructure, collaborative framework and a systems approach to be at the forefront of innovation. We’ve never been more confident that Louisville is poised to drive the nation’s thinking and action around the future of healthcare for an aging population at this historic intersection of need and opportunity.
